Tracy-Ann van Rooyen

As the new Executive Head of Content Strategy for Showmax, Tracy-Ann is tasked with leading the SVOD programming strategy for Multichoice in Africa.

With over 20 years of experience in the television industry, Tracy-Ann has a proven track record in creating, producing, and curating content for diverse audiences. Her passion for storytelling and keen eye for quality and innovation have driven her success as a programming lead across various platforms for both local and international markets.

During Tracy-Ann’s initial tenure as at MultiChoice, she contributed to multiple successful projects and initiatives that enhanced the performance and reputation of the M-Net Local Entertainment Channels and spearheaded the content acquisition strategy for both linear and VOD, fostering strategic relationships with major studios and independent producers.

In her prior roles at Endemol South Africa and most recently at The Walt Disney Company Africa, she consistently demonstrated innovation and adaptability in localizing international formats and producing successful original series tailored to local and global audiences, particularly through projects like the Team Sayari; the Pan-African series which became the cornerstone of the Nature Positive Kids Outreach Programme in East Africa.

Tracy-Ann’s leadership in overseeing the programming strategy from linear (Mzansi Magic to National Geographic), to streaming (Disney+ to Showmax), has demonstrated her ability to engage audiences with market specific insights, and tailormade merchandising strategies.
