Esther Beukes
Over the past decade, the Multichoice Talent Factory (MTF) has nurtured a generation of storytellers, and Esther Beukes is living proof of its lasting impact. She first stepped onto a set as a high schooler working on music videos, gradually finding her way into production design, wardrobe, and art direction. Her journey took her through renowned training programs, including One Fine Day Film Training, the Luxor International Film Festival Workshop, and MTF itself. Her short film, Miss Understood, has made its mark across Africa, challenging perspectives and inspiring audiences. More recently, she completed the Durban Film Market Institute’s Business Lab and continues to develop an anthology series under the Future of Film Africa initiative.
Beyond filmmaking, Esther is a driving force behind industry transformation. As the youngest and first female Chairperson of the Namibian Film Commission, she is working to position Namibia as a sought-after film destination while advocating for emerging talent. Her passion for storytelling, policy, and mentorship reflects the very spirit of MTF; one that continues to shape the future of African cinema.
