Eloise King

Eloïse King is a queer, London-born inter-disciplinary filmmaker of Caribbean heritage. Through a lens that amplifies marginalized perspectives, she interrogates the fractures and fictions of societal ‘progress’, uncovering the contradictions embedded within cultural and institutional shifts. Her award-winning works are both poetic and provocative and seek to challenge dominant histories and reimagine the possibilities of collective memory.

As a former Global Executive Producer at VICE & i-D, King led a multi-award-winning international long-form documentary team across North America, South America, Europe and Asia. Her previous titles, as a director and/or producer, earned her recognition from: THE GATHERINGS (Grierson nominated), KIDS BEHIND BARS (ITV, A&E), PINS & NEEDLES (Broadcast Awards) and GURLS TALK (LOVIE/ WEBBY winner) and AMY WINEHOUSE & ME: DIONNES’ STORY (MTV and Paramount+). Her collaborative works have appeared in international cultural institutions such as the ICA, Tate Britain, the V&A, and MoAD.

Her work has been supported by Sheffield Doc Fest Queer Realities Director Lab, Firelight Media Fellowship, and a Bertha Foundation, Perspective and Field of Vision. As Writer/Director, King’s narrative feature YOUTS was selected for the prestigious BFI LFF Network industry programme.

King’s debut feature documentary THE SHADOW SCHOLARS, was executive Produced by Sir Steve McQueen, financed by Film4, BFI Doc Society and premiered at BFI London Film Festival, 2024 where it was awarded a Special Mention for Best Feature Documentary and a nominated for Best Documentary at Johannesburg Film festival 2025.
