Papama Mtwisha

Papama Mtwisha is a South African fashion entrepreneur and creative visionary, renowned for founding the movement and brand “Africa Your Time Is Now” (AYTIN) in 2017. Born in Port Elizabeth (now Gqeberha) and raised in Cape Town, Mtwisha’s passion for fashion emerged early, leading her to pursue formal education in the field. She began her studies at the London International School of Fashion (LISOF) before transferring to the fashion department at Wits Technikon (now the University of Johannesburg), where she excelled and won the best collection award in her first year.

Mtwisha’s professional journey encompasses roles as a fashion assistant and editor at True Love magazine, as well as collaborations with various publications and television shows. In 2014, inspired by her two daughters, she launched “Butter Pudding,” a children’s clothing brand aimed at offering unique, locally made apparel. Building on this success, she established AYTIN, a brand and movement designed to celebrate Africa’s potential and inspire positive change. Through AYTIN, Mtwisha seeks to empower Africans by promoting self-belief and showcasing the continent’s rich cultural heritage.

Under her leadership, AYTIN has grown into a global movement, with its merchandise serving as a symbol of pride and a reminder of Africa’s power and potential. Mtwisha continues to inspire through her commitment to fashion, cultural entrepreneurship, and her unwavering belief in the limitless potential of Africa and its people.
